Librarians at work : The times they are a-changing
It used to be that measuring library work was largely a matter of counting book loans. The computer age has changed all that so that much of it is invisible. During the week ending the 2nd of March other statistics were kept to gauge the work being done in the provision of library services.
At Granville there were altogether 1164 queries dealt with personally and over the phone. It was shown that 32% of these queries taken were of an Information Technology nature.

Browsing magazines on-line
Many people know about our databases of full-text journals. These are accessible by all TAFE Staff and students. They are promoted at all Library induction sessions and a workshop on this subject earlier this year was well attended. A keyword search will turn up a plethora of quality related journal articles useful for research. All you need is the User Id and password issued by the Library.
Sometimes however you may only wish to browse magazine articles of a particular title. But finding a title has been a little long-winded, needing to choose relevant databases. Now however, it's just one click away. Try the following link:
eJournal A-Z
You can also find this link in the e-resources tab of the TAFECAT
Here you may search for you favourite magazine title and be able to browse through many years of back issues, in most cases.
You can also search journals by their subject. Under History of Australia and Oceania there are more than twenty titles available, with Australian Aboriginal Studies and Australian Historical Studies as examples.
Please note however that you will be asked for your DET User Id and Password, issued to all TAFE students.
